BLOG POST 8: IN THE AGE OF AI - NO ONE IS SAFE
Throughout this video, they mentioned the battle between capital and labor. AI will favor the rich and hurt the poor. It's frightening that AI is only going to get stronger and smarter. Just like all companies, they are in it for profit, not for the employees. The smaller the company is, the greater the need for profitability. It is a hard economy to navigate, but it doesn’t give companies the right to take from consumers.
This is especially prevalent in AI. Just when consumers thought they were using the web, the web was using them. This was shown through AI data training. These AI training companies take information from every search and every result on web engines and use it to build a huge database of users' habits. It is almost impossible to keep your information secret.
National security is at risk due to the lack of restrictions on AI. Foreign enemies can take AI information and turn it against the targeted country. AI is a tool, and if it falls into the wrong hands, it won’t know what's right or not. Democracy is in danger if AI falls into the wrong hands. The world is not built to fight it as of now, and I think it will be catastrophic.
Online security is already lackluster, and AI is taking away more than ever before. Identity theft will be inevitable since AI has information about every person who uses the internet, and that will lead to data breaches if AI is hacked.
Surveillance is everywhere, no matter who you are. In foreign countries, AI is used to prey on religious people and those who stand against their regime. Who knows how many people are at risk?
There is a fear that splits will occur between two countries that own AI, and every other country will have to choose between them. That is the dystopia that is already being played out in real time.
